“We’re honored to host this year’s Flower Show,” said Heritage Museums & Gardens Executive Director Ellen Spear. “The beautiful design and creativity that the participants bring is so much a part of the horticultural experience that Heritage delights in showcasing for the public.”
“Secrets & Miracles” Standard Flower Show will be staged according to the rules of National Garden Clubs, Inc. The exhibits, with titles like Hurricane, Ripening Harvest, Zebra, and Glasswing Butterfly are inspired by the miracles of nature and secrets of the physical world. 36 floral designs include Op Art, Horizontal Creative, Framed Spatial, Victorian Floral Mass, Popular Table Designs, and Small Designs (no larger than 8 inches). Artistic crafts, made from plant material, are masks, botanical jewelry, and decorated boxes with secret tokens. Horticulture highlights include colorful dahlias, perennials, vegetables, plant collections, and horticultural educational exhibits. A don’t-miss exhibition will be Shangri-La, a miniature garden created with real plant material and a waterfall in a 3’ x 2’ x 2’ box with a scale of 1 inch representing 12 inches.
Visitors to the Flower Show are welcome to stroll Heritage’s magnificent gardens, view its renowned collections of American art, history, and automobiles and enjoy riding on the Looff Carousel and seeing Hidden Hollow, a new place for families to play in and explore the natural world.
