SUMMARY:Gardening for Biodiversity with Native Plants: Providing Habitat for Pollinators, Birds, and other Essential Wildlife
DESCRIPTION:As part of Heritage’s celebration of National Pollinator Week, an annual event  to raise awareness and encourage action to protect pollinators, we are excited to welcome Amy Meltzer, Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the Massachusetts Pollinator Network, for this engaging and informative presentation. Amy will focus on the current biodiversity crisis and will discuss the evolutionary history among native plants, insects, birds and fungi, and how these interdependent relationships among diverse species are necessary for their survival. She will show how growing native plants and using ecological landscape practices can simultaneously reverse biodiversity loss, increase resilience in our landscapes, and slow climate change – all while creating a beautiful garden!\nThis program is free with museum admission or membership. No advance registration is required.\nSpeaker Bio: Amy Meltzer is Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the Massachusetts Pollinator Network, is an active member of Grow Native Massachusetts, and is on the Elders Climate Action Research Team.
