Joan Harrison has been passionate about hydrangeas for 25 years. With the goal of learning all she can about her favorite plants, she has toured significant hydrangea collections around the world including the Shamrock Collection in France, Holehird Gardens in England, and the collection of the Belgian Hydrangea Society in Destelbergen, Belgium. She was a conference participant at the First International Hydrangea Conference in Ghent, Belgium in 2007 and is the author of Hydrangeas: Cape Cod and the Islands (Schiffer Books, 2012) and Heavenly Hydrangeas: A Practical Guide for the Home Gardener, (Schiffer Books, 2013).
She is the founding president of the Cape Cod Hydrangea Society which has established a hydrangea collection at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, Massachusetts. A featured speaker at garden clubs and such venues as the Boston Flower Show and the Newport Flower Show, she enjoys sharing her knowledge about hydrangeas with fellow enthusiasts.
Her writing and photography have been featured in publications including Cape Cod Magazine, Cape Cod Life, Nantucket Today, and Primetime Cape Cod. Her website, www.hydrangeamania.com, is an online destination for everyone who loves hydrangeas.
