Even the most experienced gardeners can be overwhelmed by the prospect of pruning hydrangeas. Join Heritage Hydrangea Curator and expert Mal Condon to learn how to selectively prune your plants to improve vigor, increase bloom density, check plant height, and enhance ornamental value. Tools, techniques, and timing are discussed, and a hands-on demonstration will take place in the North American Hydrangea Test Garden. Advance registration is recommended as space is limited and these programs often sell out!
Hydrangea Success Series: Register for all five workshops in the series (Hydrangea Pruning April 7 or 8, Planting and Replanting May 12 or 17, Irrigation June 28 or 30, Propagation August 2 or 4, and Winterizing November 3 or 4) to receive a discounted rate: $60 Members, $100 Non-members – That’s 5 workshops for the price of 4!
Mal Condon, HMG’s Curator of Hydrangeas: A lifelong gardener, Mal has been collecting, propagating, and growing hydrangeas for more than 40 years. He and his wife Mary Kay owned and operated Hydrangea Farm Nursery on Nantucket Island for many years. Early in 2014 they relocated to Yarmouth Port on Cape Cod and are busy establishing a significant garden in their new location. Mal is responsible for all our hydrangeas at Heritage and much involved with the continuing expansion of our plantings.
