This episode of “Cocktails with Curators” will feature Director of Collections & Exhibitions, Jennifer Y. Madden, as she explores the depth of the museum’s collection of bird carvings by Elmer Crowell. Heritage has the most complete museum collection of Crowell carvings, including works in life size and miniature. In addition, Heritage acquired almost all of the materials from the Crowell workshop such as the original order books, patterns, supplies, and more. Join Jennifer as she showcases some of these amazing objects and learn about what inspired Elmer Crowell, how he made his carvings, and their lasting impact today.

The live webinar will include time for questions, follow-up email with reference material. All program registrants will receive a link to the video recording, available for 72 hours after the event. Advance registration is required.

  • Jennifer Y. Madden

    Jennifer Y. Madden is the Director of Collections & Exhibitions at Heritage Museums & Gardens where she has worked since 1993. While visiting Colonial Williamsburg with her family at age nine, she announced to her parents that she would work in a museum when she grew up. At Heritage, Jennifer cares for 18,000 objects ranging from an ancient shell pendant to a 1965 Country Squire station wagon. She also has almost 100 exhibitions under her belt! When not at work, she hangs out with her family and two cats in a 1865 Greek Revival house near the Sandwich boardwalk.
