UPDATED: COVID-19 policies as of Saturday, May 29th 2021

Vaccinated visitors are not required to wear face-coverings outdoors.

Unvaccinated visitors over the age of five must wear face coverings outdoors and must maintain at least six feet between themselves and other parties, per the MA Department of Public Health.

Please note, face-covering restrictions may still apply to certain events.

Face coverings must be worn indoors and on transportation vehicles.

Capacity restrictions and one way traffic have been lifted on the grounds and in buildings.

Hand sanitizing –Hand sanitizing stations will be located around the property.

Heritage Museums & Gardens continues to thoughtfully examine every aspect of our operations, and plans to move forward in a way that maintains the safest experience for our staff and visitors. Until further notice, Heritage is choosing to exercise our right as a private business to enact and enforce some policies and procedures that are more rigorous than those required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The safety and well-being of our visitors, staff, volunteers, and students is our top priority. Heritage policy requires staff members to wear face coverings when interacting with members of the public.

Increased cleaning and sanitizing – Heritage follows CDC guidance for cleaning and hygiene protocols, recognizing that cleaning and disinfecting surfaces can reduce the risk of infection.

COVID-19  visitor guidelines

  • Outdoors: Vaccinated visitors are not required to wear face-coverings outdoors.
  • Outdoors: Unvaccinated visitors over the age of five must wear face coverings outdoors and must maintain at least six feet between themselves and other parties, per the MA Department of Public Health.
  • Outdoor Transportation: Masks or face coverings will still be required while traveling in our onsite transportation vehicles.

  • Indoors: All visitors and staff over the age of 5 must wear a mask or face covering unless medically exempt, even with proof of vaccination

  • Purchase tickets online before arrival
  • Visitors and employees must abide by social distancing protocols of at least six feet between individuals

  • Please note, restrictions may still apply to special events.

What is open

  • All gardens and outdoor spaces are open to the public with reduced capacity

  • The J.K. Lilly III Automobile Gallery featuring the From Carriage to Classic exhibit

  • The Special Exhibits Gallery with the Let’s Play exhibit
  • The Magnolia Cafe

  • The Shop at Heritage
  • Transportation for those with disabilities or needing assistance

  • Restrooms at the entrance, in the J.K. Lilly III Automobile Gallery & at the Magnolia Café. Portable restrooms available at the back of the property by the entrance to Hidden Hollow.

What is closed

  • American Art & Carousel Gallery including the Carousel are closed due to construction and will open later this season.

Limitations at open areas

  • Reduced hands-on interactive materials provided in Hidden Hollow, and in the galleries

Heritage prevention efforts

  • Hand disinfecting stations placed throughout the grounds

  • Routine cleaning and disinfecting of common surfaces such as: transportation carts, handrails, restrooms, and all interactive exhibits
  • All staff members will be adhering to all state-mandated sanitation practices, completing daily health self-checks, wearing masks, and practicing social distancing.
  • Monitoring and limiting crowd sizes for indoor and outdoor areas
  • Collecting visitor information for contact tracing if needed

Programs, classes and events

  • Heritage is offering a variety of virtual programs to supplement the onsite programs.
  • The 2021 Auto Show is scheduled for June 12, 2021

  • Heritage will be adding or removing events and programs as the state regulations change throughout the year
