At Heritage Museums & Gardens, we offer several opportunities for the public to get involved and support our institution. With outdoor and indoor collections, three gallery buildings and a hundred acres of gardens, Heritage can use the helping hands of volunteers and interns for programs support, collection care-taking and garden maintenance, as well as assisting our staff.

Register for the 2017 Summer Vacation Program The Hundred Acre School at Heritage opens its doors to children ages 4 to 8 during the summer. Join us in our bright, modern classrooms and arts laboratory for a STEM-focused vacation week program that allows children to question like scientists, use technology as a tool, be creative engineers, and think like mathematicians. Heritage Museums & Gardens becomes our second classroom with daily adventures throughout the grounds and to the museums. 2017 Program Options Full Day 9am-3:30pm Half Day 9am-1pm Morning extended day: 8-9am Afternoon extended day: 3:30-5:30pm 2017 Summer Vacation STEM Program Week 1: 6/26 -6/30: Conducting Science Experiments Week 2: 7/3-7/7 (Closed 7/4): Conducting Science Experiments Week 3: 7/10-7/14: Nature Explorers Week 4: 7/17-7/21: Nature Explorers Week 5: 7/24-28: Excitement of Tinkering Week 6: 7/31-84: Excitement of Tinkering Week 7: 8/7-8/11: Loving Our Earth Week 8: 8/14-8/18: Loving Our Earth Week 9: 8/21-8/25: Science Sleuths Our Typical Weekly Schedule: Monday: Welcome to the program! Tuesday: Hidden Hollow Day – All classes will be going to Hidden Hollow around 9:15. Please arrive on time to the program. Wednesday: Water Fun & Sprinkler Day – Please pack a bathing suit and towel or just a change of clothes. Our outdoor time will incorporate a lot of water play. Thursday: Bike & Scooter Day – Students are welcome to bring a bike or scooter AND helmet to our program. We will block off the parking lot and have some riding time. Friday: Heritage Museums & Gardens Family Fun Friday. Students will attend the concert on the main stage at 11 am. Enjoy a day at Heritage that features fun for the whole family, including a performance, outdoor games, and family challenges. Free with Museum admission. 11 am performance: Wayne Potash & The Music Fun Band Wayne Potash performs fun, interactive music shows for families with children (ages 1-10). Whether indoors or outdoors, his shows always feature lots of sing-a-longs, dancing, jumping, games, and requests from the audience. Wayne and his five-piece band, which includes guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, fiddle, and banjo, has played hundreds of shows, including Club Passim, Boston Harborfest, and the Cambridge River Festival, in addition to playing at schools, parks, festivals, children’s hospitals, museums, corporate events, and house parties. Wayne has released seven albums for kids, provides music and movement programs for fifteen Boston-area schools, and has also appeared on local radio and cable television.
