Game On! – A National Garden Club Flower Show
Wednesday, July 17: 1-5 pm | Thursday, July 18: 10 am-7:30 pm | Friday, July 19: 10 am-5 pm
This major New England flower show is presented at Heritage by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts Southeastern District’s garden clubs and its award-winning Design Study Group. View beautiful, creative floral and botanical arts designs, exquisite horticultural specimens, and Youth exhibits related to this year’s theme – Game On! Entrance to the flower show is free with admission or membership. No advance registration is required.
The playful theme for this year’s show is Game On! Exhibitors compete in four divisions including a Horticulture Division, Design Division, Botanical Arts Division, and Youth Division. The Design Division features classes like “Twister,” featuring free-standing floor designs; “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” featuring a functional table for two inspired by an invited guest (real or fictional) selected by the Exhibitor; or “Clue,” including still life designs inspired by one of the Clue mansion rooms. Examples of classes in the Botanical Arts Division include “Angry Birds,” featuring gourd bird houses decorated with fresh or dried plant material, and “Garden Quest,” which includes 5”x7” pressed flower note cards using all dried, pressed plant material. For the second year, young competitors are invited to participate in a Youth Division. Exhibitors in the age 7 and Under category will enter in the “Go Fish” class, creating imaginary fish made predominantly of dried plant material on a wooden form, or in the “Kick the Can” class, designing a flower arrangement in a Campbell’s soup can. Participants ages 8-12 will complete imaginary alien face designs from dried plant material as part of the “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” class or create “Candy Land”-inspired flower arrangements. Top exhibitors in the show receive awards for First, Second, and Third Place, and Honorable Mention in each Division, and other special awards are given following the formal judging process. Join us to experience the creativity that is the name of the game at this event!
Please note that the Flower Show will open at 1 pm on Wednesday, following the completion of Show judging.
