Heritage Museums & Gardens is happy to provide the setting for personal portraits, student and non-profit photography, commercial photography, and film shoots with the following rules outlined below.

Third Party Activity Policy

Portrait Photography

A session reservation is required for all portrait photography, including, single, couple, group and wedding party sessions. Heritage Museums & Gardens requires a minimum of two weeks’ notice to arrange for a portrait photography session.

Heritage Museums & Gardens offers photography times during our regular business hours of 10am-Spm, Sunday through Saturday. Private photography opportunities before 10am or after 5pm are possible based on the time of year and access to gardens and galleries. All wedding group photography takes places after open hours and locations are subject to approval.

During daytime sessions, portrait photography is permitted outside on the paths of our inviting gardens and grounds. Early Morning and Evening private sessions are allowed inside galleries with prior agreed upon locations set.

Additionally, all photography is at the discretion of Heritage Museums & Gardens. All participants in portrait photography must pay the regular admission fee. For questions about portrait photography, please contact jlepage@heritagemuseums.org.

Commercial Photography & Videography

Commercial photography and videography include, but are not limited to, images for use in/as: display advertising, television commercials, feature films, music videos, retail products, brochures, product literature, annual reports, training videos, award presentations, instructional videos, business websites, non-macro stock photography for sale, model portfolios and other industrial, promotional or advertising projects. Drone photography is treated as commercial photography and requires a permit.

All commercial photography and videography is prohibited at Heritage Museums & Gardens unless arranged in advance with the Manager of Group Sales and Functions.

Ad agencies, public relations firms, marketing groups, corporate communications offices, commercial photographers, location scouts and others wishing to shoot commercial photography or video at Heritage Museums & Gardens should contact the Manager of Group Sales & Functions at jlepage@heritagemuseums.org

Third Party Activity Policy

Student & Non-Profit Photography

Student photographers/videographers (high school, college, or university) and non-profit organizations are subject to the same guidelines that apply to commercial projects. Organizations must contact the Manager of Group Sales & Functions at jlepage@heritagemuseums.org two weeks in advance for project authorization. Projects will be approved on a case-by-case basis. All approved applicants will receive a 15% discount on the session rate.

All sessions are reserved for 90- minutes. Admission to grounds is included in the fee structure below.

Daytime Portrait Photography

10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Individual or Couple Portrait Session- $75
Small Group Session- $225 (up to 10 people)
Large Group Session- available on a limited basis: please email to inquire
Deposit of $50.00 required to reserve large group session

Early Morning Portrait Photography
8:00 am – 9:30 am

Individual or Couple Portrait Session- $250
Small Group Session- $375 (up to 10 people)
Large Group Session- $500 (11 – 25 people)
Wedding Party Session – $650
Deposit of $200.00 required to reserve

Evening Portrait Photography
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Individual or Couple Portrait Session- $250
Small Group Session- $375 (up to 10 people)
Large Group Session- $500 (11 – 25 people)
Wedding Party Session – $650
Deposit of $200.00 required to reserve

Commercial Photography & Videography

For the first hour, $1000, and $500 per additional hour
Additional arrangements may be required for groups larger than six (6) people.
Deposit of session fee is required for all commercial and videography sessions.

Cancellation Policy

Heritage Museums & Gardens does not offer refunds of required deposit. In cases of inclement weather, photography & videography sessions may be rescheduled, based on date availability.

Please help us by doing the following:

  • Only be on the grounds between the hours of 10am- 5pm, unless you have approval for a private hours session.
  • Enter and exit through the main entrance and check in at the Admissions Booth (see map).
  • Be respectful of other visitors and Heritage Museums & Gardens staff.
  • Yield areas to other visitors, Heritage Museums & Gardens staff, and volunteers.
  • Stay on paved, gravel or mulched pathways at all times.
  • Change clothes, apply makeup, or set hair in designated bathrooms.
  • Keep makeup cases, shoulder bags, props, and photo equipment with you at all times.
  • Deposit all trash in trash cans in the gardens, galleries, and parking lots.
  • Remain fully clothed at all times, including photographers and models. No bathing suits, or overly suggestive clothing..

Please help us by not doing the following:

  • Block gateways, pathways, transport routes, entrances, and exits.
  • Place equipment or models where they will restrict access or prevent other visitors from exhibits and gardens.
  • Walk, stand, or place equipment or take photos in planted areas.
  • Move potted plants or signs.
  • Pick flowers, leaves, or other parts of the living collections.
  • Touch collection items in the gallery spaces.
  • Bring live plants, flowers, flower pedals, rice, glitter, paint, flares, smoke bombs, balloons or other materials that leave residue.
  • Stand, sit, lean, or climb on walls, railings, or fountains.
  • Attach, drape, lean or hang any props, clothing, or other items on trees, plants, statues, etc.
  • Touch or alter fountain valves, water supply lines, lighting fixtures or electrical lines.
  • Bring fans, radios, televisions, or play music.
  • Bring drones (they are not allowed on property).
  • Bring outside food deliveries.
  • Bring animals of any kind (with the exception of service dogs)
  • Smoke or vape anywhere on Heritage Museums & Gardens property.
