Full Time Opportunities
Manager of Public Programs
Heritage seeks and enthusiastic individual who enjoys engaging with the public. This person will be responsible for creating and managing engaging and effective programs and events that respond to the needs of Heritage Museums & Gardens’ (HMG’s) varied audiences. Includes working collaboratively with internal and external partners, tracking and reporting data, and conducting evaluation that leads to continual improvement of programs and the visitor experience.

Gardener
The Gardener is a member of the Horticulture Department of Heritage Museums & Gardens. Reporting to the Landscape Manager, the Gardener assists the other staff as assigned and physically works as a gardener to maintain the Garden in the best possible condition for our visiting public. Using best practices and showcasing, the Gardener seeks to educate the public showcasing plant collections, garden design and ecology. This is a full time, full year, one year term position with benefits. The Gardener is a physically demanding position requiring work outside in all seasons.

Collections Processing Technician
The Collections Processing Technician is responsible for working with the Collections and Exhibitions team to catalog, photograph, and rehouse a new cranberry collection. This newly acquired collection of objects, artwork, ephemera, and archival materials will enhance Heritage’s ability to tell important stories about our region. The Collections Processing Technician will advance the Heritage mission by gaining intellectual and physical control of this new collection and sharing this information through Heritage’s online collections database.

Development Coordinator
Heritage Museums & Gardens seeks a bright and highly motivated individual to help support Heritage’s fundraising operations. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for development administration, database maintenance, customer service, event and grant support, and membership assistance.

Part Time Opportunities
Indigenous Interpreter
Heritage seeks energetic, outgoing, museum-loving members of Indigenous communities to join our Visitor Experience staff. This seasonal, up to 16 hours per week, part-time position focuses on providing high-quality, memorable visitor experiences centered around fostering public understanding of the history and culture of the Wampanoag people. Successful candidates will love working with people of all ages, and will enjoy sharing information and making connections between visitors and Heritage’s reproduction Wampanoag wetu, mush8n, and Three Sisters Garden outdoor exhibits. Requirements include excellent people skills and commitment to teamwork. Museum or customer service background and previous knowledge of Wampanoag history preferred. Saturdays and some evening availability required.

School Security

Internships
Horticultural Internship Program
Heritage Museum and Gardens (HMG) in historic Sandwich, MA on Cape Cod offers summer internships for the period May through late August. This is a great opportunity to gain botanical garden work experience. Students work directly for and with the Director of Horticulture and garden staff in the Garden undertaking various duties as required to maintain a public garden.
Using the extensive and mature plant collections, students participate in weekly walks and are required to learn approximately 150 woody and herbaceous plants over the course of the summer. In addition, students participate in informal lectures on subjects related to botanical/public garden operation, plant culture and landscape design. Each week, on a rotating schedule students are required to document and write a “What’s in Bloom” column for the HMG website.
Students will participate in several field trips to selected gardens of New England.
