  • We accept up to 14-16 students each school year.
  • Priority Enrollment: Current students are accepted first during a priority enrollment period.
  • Enrollment or the waitlist opens to the general public in January.
  • We have students from Sandwich and many towns on and off Cape Cod.

Classroom & Teachers

  • Our elementary program has three classrooms K, Grade 1 and Grade 2
  • Our Grade 1 & 2 teachers are licensed and have at least a BA in Education, learn more here.
  • We will offer a mixed Grade 1 & Grade 2 classroom for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school year. The classroom will be staffed with two teachers. Grade-level groups will be utilized during literacy and math instruction, so we will have very low student-teacher ratios! This is great for individual support and personalized instruction, which is what The Hundred Acre School does best.
  • Our elementary teachers work as a multi-teacher team to brainstorm and collaborate to create a truly special elementary program. While it is a gift to have a small class size, the K-2 community can gather as a group of 40 students for different outdoor activities and foster friendships beyond their individual classrooms.
  • Our elementary support teacher floats between the classrooms assisting teachers and students as needed.

We update teacher assignments each year depending on teacher preferences and the needs of the school. For example, we have two kindergarten teachers in the 2024-2025 school year. We anticipate Miss Jessica to move to Grade 1 in 2025-2026 but will confirm that once enrollment is underway sometime in the spring 2025.

If your child didn’t attend kindergarten, our school will consider enrollment in first grade if certain foundational skills in math and literacy are observed. It’s best to schedule a meeting with the school director to discuss your child’s readiness and the expectations typically associated with completing kindergarten.

  • Typically incoming grade 1 student will have a “yes” to each of these statements.

We welcome all students, provided we are able to meet their individual needs within our current educational offerings. Please note that we do not offer specialized education services or have any staff with these credentials. If you have specific questions about if your child would be supported by our school, reach out to the School Director or come to a tour.

Your child will only need a backpack and lunch box. No other specific school supplies are needed.

No, parents are responsible for getting students to and from school. We find that families will start to carpool once connections are made at the beginning of the year.
